Roy this week attended the HP Seminar held at the Perth convention centre.

The objective of this seminar was to preview some of the latest technologies that HP will providing in the future. Though there were a lot of impressive entries, one server that is going to be rolled has caught the attention of Lakes staff.
Lakes is eager to get its hands on this baby.

In our quests to provide our clients with the best quality infrastructure Lakes makes an effort to ensure our staffs are trained to the latest standards wherever possible. One of our more recent training efforts has come from Daniel Clark attending the latest round of sonic wall training.

Sonic wall is one of the more popular choices in the world when it comes to providing firewall protection.

Daniel attend the latest training course this week and came back quite satisfied and excited with the new prospects that SonicWall is planning to provide.

One area that has sparked a level interest in all the techies here is SonicWall’s inclusion of a Gateway and Client Antivirus solution. This basically means that networked environments can now have an additional layer of anti-virus protection straight out of the box.

Our latest upstart at Lakes is Terry Dolbey. Terry is starting out on work experience as he is still in the process of getting his degree in Cyber Forensics at Murdoch University. Terry is will be working in the background helping our techies on site mostly.

Adobe recently had its Road Show come through to Perth and even in the gloomy rainy weather I went and attended this leg of the Road Show.

The Road Shows objective was to create awareness about the new adobe suite, CS5 (which Lakes Networking uses in the design of its websites.)

Areas that were of greatest interest to me were the set of programmes that come with the Design Premium edition. A lot of interesting features have been introduced and mainly focus on improving workflow between programmes as well as faster prototype production.

Using CS5 design premium myself I am quite pleased with the entire platform. One of the cool features comes from Adobe Illustrators’ CS5 perspective drawing feature this video shows what this tool can do.

Lakes has recently enjoyed not only a staff expansion but also an office expansion. We are at the same address; however, we now occupy both floors of our building.
